COME HOME
Far away, across the night,
I sit here all alone.
Wondering where you are tonight,
And if you will come home.
Your face haunts dreams I cannot bear,
Your touch, I still can feel.
The softness of your voice rings clear,
You are with me still.
Somehow I will make it through
The long nights just ahead.
Haunted by the memories...
Sleep that fills with dread.
My world goes on without you,
Tho it isn't what I choose
The long nights filled with dread and tears
A heart of broken hues.
I watch the stars and moon above
And wonder where you are.
I wish for you to come back home
It really isn't far.
Just open up your heart to me,
And softly call my name.
I will be there at your side,
And always will remain.
Inspired by my friend,
Hopeful Heart

MY SUNSHINE
I woke up and stretched, and was, oh, so surprised,
When streams of bright sunlight flooded my eyes.
I smiled, and snuggled in, and enjoyed the serene,
And wondered if you woke to the same wondrous scene.
The miles, yes, are many... yet not really so,
For the same sun and stars cast us both in their glow.
The distance between us in not what I fear.
Your special place in my heart is so near.
The words that you send, stay with me each day,
And I know you're not really that far away.

BILL
He came quietly and unassumingly into my life
With simple poems of friendship.
Not romance was he seeking,
Only a friend to share his thoughts,
And through my darkest times, his smile was there,
With brilliant light to beckon me.
In absence, my thoughts went silently to him,
Wondering, waiting, missing his words of friendship.
Missing his warmth, his caring, and his manner,
Subtle humor, ever present.
Now, found again, we draw closer still
And share our thoughts and dreams.
Even deeper, though unspoken, feelings are born,
Running deep and sure.
Slowly... as this friendship blooms,
My heart fills with tender feelings.
I open places deep within, which were protected
And hidden deep, never to be shared again,
To this gentle, caring man, so far away,
Who seeks only friendship and poems of time.
Yet, I do not fear him, for no matter where
This leads us,
I have known his words, his gentleness,
And I have felt his friendship.

GOOD NIGHT
Good night sweet Bill.
The day is done,
And you are far away.
I've saved a place
Deep in my heart
Where you are free to stay.
There are no walls,
No holds, no ties,
To bind you at my side.
So come, or go...
I wait right here,
As for the rising tide.

MIDNIGHT DREAMS
The sun is gone and stars did come
To light the dark night sky.
The silence of the night time
Softly passes by.
Sweet thoughts of you do fill my head
As I drift off to sleep.
And when I wake in mornings light,
Your memory still I keep.
It stays with me through out the day,
And brings a gentle smile.
Daydreams will just have to do
For just a little while.

SPECIAL FRIENDS
You make me feel so special,
And I can't help but believe,
That you were sent to be my friend,
No feelings to deceive.
And if our time together
Isn't what we thought it'd be,
You will always share my heart,
As special friends... you'll see.
I only know that poems come
With dreams of you, and yet,
I know for sure that you are one
That I cannot forget.

LOOK BACK
When you walk along the beach
So far away from home,
Don't forget to look this way
And know you're not alone.
I wait here on the beach for you
To come and take my hand.
I watch the sun and stars collide
And drift slowly to the sand.
So, even though you're miles away
As I stare into space,
Remember that I search the sky
To find your smiling face.
My heart has promised to believe
That you will be my friend.
So please come back, come back soon.
Don't let this feeling end.

FOR STEVE
Lovers, yes, they come and go
And rarely do they last.
But friends like you are very rare,
And so I hold on fast.
You never judge, nor do you blame.
Your heart is very free.
I treasure moments spent with you.
You mean the world to me...

STEVE'S FANTASY
He was born too late, some would say,
And missed the calling of his day.
He longs to ride her sleek, hard frame
On tracks of steel cross lands untamed.
He longs to hear her whistle shrill
And echo up across the hills.
He longs for puffy clouds of steam
That follow tracks of fondest dreams.
He longs to ride her into night
With stars to guide them on their flight.
A flight across the sands of time,
Into the mysteries of his mind.
They are one, this train and he.
They have a bond no one can see.
She owns him, yes, his heart and soul
And freeing her his only goal.
Both are free to search life's road.
A piece of history, yet untold.

WISHES THREE
Three wishes?
How generous!
Well, let me see...
Number One?
Gee, that's easy...
Lots of money for me.
Number Two?
Well, of course!
A large house and a boat,
And a crew to guide it and keep it afloat.
Number Three?
I'm excited! Oh, what should I choose?
Fancy jewelry, fur coats and boxes of shoes.
But what is the good of all these fine things,
If love and happiness aren't what it brings?
Three wishes...
How generous!
Well, let me see...
What would I wish for, with these wishes three?
That's easy! I shouted.
Three wishes are fun,
But for what I wish for,
I need only one.
YOU... right beside me,
On land or on sea...
YOU... right beside me,
That's all I do need!

UNTITLED
It was a rough day,
And I'm glad to be home.
To hide from the crowds
And to read your sweet poems.
You have such a style,
And a gift to behold.
I'm feeling much better,
If truth to be told.
You've fueled all my fantasies
With your sweet rhymes,
And made me look forward
To our future times.
It's true that right now,
Good friends we will be.
I like what I'm hearing,
And I can't wait to see.
I treasure your friendship
And hope it will stay.
If it turns into more,
We both win that way.

FIRST KISS
He wonders ... should he kiss me,
When at first we meet?
However should I answer that
And still remain discreet?
Perhaps we shouldn't kiss at all,
Then I could be so strong.
But if I let him kiss me,
Do you think he'll soon be gone?
Will he see me shiver,
And shake as he draws near?
Will he count the butterflies
As they do appear?
And however will he think of me,
When our first glances meet?
Will he be glad that he's come,
Or will he just retreat?
I think a hug would feel so right,
But caution must prevail,
No fireman's carry for this girl,
He'd drop me on my tail!
He doesn't have to pick me up
To sweep me off my feet.
But if I don't get to meet him soon,
Life won't be complete.
So ... if he wants to kiss me,
When at first we meet,
I think I'll have to let him,
Cause he's really very sweet.

BUTTERFLIES
I'm way too old to feel this way!
And so it cannot be.
Butterflies in my stomach,
A blush that you can see.
I don't know what clothes to wear
When that first time we meet.
I don't own any high heeled shoes
To wear upon my feet.
I thought of something Lacey,
But somehow that won't do.
Meeting in a pool hall,
Full of smoke and brew.
So should I wear my blue jeans
With a sweatshirt warm and bright?
I don't know you well enough
To wear lace and frills tonight.
Should I put on makeup
And all that girlie stuff?
Or should I just come as me...
A diamond in the rough.
Should I dab that perfume
In the place behind my ear?
Will you even notice it?
Will you come that near?
And if you come that close to me
I don't know what I'll do.
I'm sure I'll feel so nervous
To be so close to you.
Should we just shake hands and smile,
Or pat each other's back?
How are we supposed to know,
Are we both on track?
I thought I was too old for this,
But one thing now is clear.
I'm having way too much fun to stop.
"HEY BABY... OVER HERE!"

SPARKS OF FIRE
There's no doubt that when we meet
The sparks are gonna fly.
I don't mean from the fire,
But directly from my eyes!
You have torn down fences tall
And entered scared ground
That I never planned to share...
No man would come around.
So, don't blame me for heat and fire
When poetry sweet you send.
You have won my heart and soul
And I just can't defend.

WAITING
It started out so sunny
With just a cloud or two.
It got a little darker,
When I stopped to think of you.
The weekend has gone quickly,
But I must admit, it's true...
It hasn't been much fun at all,
With no email from you.
It's true I went to dinner,
And even saw a show.
A workout at the gym for me,
And shopping, I did go.
The joy just wasn't in it,
It didn't seem much fun.
I think of weekends just ahead,
And wish the time would run.
I don't know what the future holds,
I only know it's true...
That you put a smile upon my face,
And I will wait for you.
I will wait down on the beach
Where sand and water meet.
So, hurry home, and come to me
With open arms so sweet.

MY STRANGER
I've come to know the spiders
Who dwell within the walls.
Since there is no activity,
Creatures now possess the halls.
Cobwebs hang in eerie light
So dark and gloomy here.
No mail has filled the passage,
The only sound... a falling tear.
In absence, we grow fond, it's true,
And in this case I've found,
Your absence is a mystery
Cause you've never been around.
This is a strange phenomenon
Which I cannot explain.
How can you miss a stranger
Who left upon a plane?
I miss lively conversation
Tapped out upon the keys.
I miss the pretty pictures
And sweet words of rhyme that tease.
Oh where, oh where, could you have gone,
And when will you return?
There is so much about you,
I really want to learn.

DISAPPOINTMENT
You said you'd call...
But you didn't.
I tried to be patient,
But I couldn't.
You said you would miss me...
And you haven't.
I tried to be strong...
And I wasn't.
You said you'd come back...
And you haven't.

GEMS OF FRIENDSHIP
Friends are rare, Like gems that shine.
And I'm so glad that you are mine.
It seems things happen in times of need,
And good friends help you to succeed.
Foundations of friendship are stronger than time.
They will last forever, like yours and mine.
