Poems of Remembrance
Page 1 - Last Updated February 14, 2006.

This page is full of poems from the heart. Each has it's own story. I've noticed that people will often take comfort in sharing that which was so precious to them with the rest of the world, and so I am proud to help wherever I can. If you have a poem about someone you'd like to share with the rest of us, please click on Hopeful Heart at the bottom of the page, and send me your poem or story. All poems on this page are copyrighted by their respective authors. Blessed be.

In Memory of My Husband

You have left us and gone into the light with the Lord,
I have not.
Peace fills you now and have found such great joy,
I have not.
Memories of you my love will last forever and never will I forget,
I have not.
Nor will my longing for you cease,
I have not.
My precious husband and my dear best friend,
I have not.

A MAN AMONG MEN

A man among men
We lost Wednesday night
Feeling such peace
As he followed the light
The love in his eye
And the sound of his laughter
Remains in our hearts
Forever and after
Through all of his loved ones
He'll never be gone
Through each one of us
His spirit lives on
We all have a purpose
And something to give
With each breath
That we take
For as long as we live
Tom can rest easy
With Angels above
As we share his gift
Of laughter and love
It always has been
And always will be true
He's the King among friends
We love you Tom Fool!

In Memory of John Nation

He was my love, my friend, my husband,
And always my Hero.
My one wish is;
My last breath on earth
Be my first in Heaven
And the first words I hear are
"Hello Darling, Welcome Home"

Too Late To Say I Love You

I should have said I love you
Before it was too late;
Those words can mean so very much,
And should never have to wait.

I should have spent some time with you,
To show you how I cared;
It would have been so easy,
But I never really dared.

I should have tried to let you know,
Just what you meant to me;
I should have showed you how I felt,
While you were here to see.

But now I stand above your grave,
And whisper to the air,
And wish that I could turn the time,
To back when you were there.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY DARLING

CHRISTMAS IS COMING, AND I MISS YOU SO
I ASK THE SAME QUESTION, OH, WHY DID YOU GO
THEN I GET DISTRACTED BY THE GRANDKIDS AND ALL
AND BEFORE I EVEN KNOW IT, I'M HAVING A BALL

WE'RE TRIMMING THE TREE AND WE'RE PLANNING EACH GIFT
AND THE SINGING OF CAROLS, OH, OUR SPIRITS DO LIFT
THEN IT COMES TO MY MIND, OH, WHAT DID I DO
I'VE BEEN LAUGHING AND JOKING WITH NO THOUGHT OF YOU

GUILT WANTS TO TAKE OVER, BUT IS SOON PUSHED AWAY
FOR I HEAR YOU SAYING, PLEASE, BABE, GO NOW AND PLAY
THEN TEARS FILL MY EYES AND MY HEART FILLS WITH DREAD
AM I LEAVING YOU BEHIND, OR ARE YOU PUSHING ME AHEAD

Written 12-9-97. It would have been his 62nd birthday on 12-17.

In Loving Memory
of
TANYA MAY DE NAURO

FIFTY-FIVE DAYS WAS SUCH A SHORT TIME
FOR THE LIFE OF A CHILD THAT WAS YOURS AND MINE
THEN GOD REACHED DOWN AND TOOK HER AWAY
IN A TIME LIKE THIS, OH, HOW DO WE PRAY

HER LITTLE HANDS REACHED, HER EYES WERE SO BLUE
THE LOVE IN OUR HEARTS FOR HER WAS SO NEW
WE DON'T UNDERSTAND IT, WHY DID SHE GO
WE CRY OUT IN ANGUISH, GOD, MAKE IT NOT SO

GOD, PLEASE HELP US EACH TIME THAT WE CRY
WHEN IN OUR HEARTS WE'LL NEVER KNOW WHY
OUR TANYA WAS TAKEN TO BE THERE WITH YOU
IT MIGHT BE SOME COMFORT IF WE ONLY KNEW

OH, TANYA, OUR PRECIOUS, OUR BEAUTIFUL BABE
WE LOVE YOU, WE MISS YOU, GOD TOOK BACK WHAT HE GAVE
WE'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER, WE'LL NEVER FORGET
FOR DEEP IN OUR HEARTS YOU LIVE WITH US YET.

Until we meet again, your Grandma.

October 15, 1994

OCTOBER 15 AT 8 A.M. BURNS IN MY THOUGHTS SO DEEP
THE GREATEST MAN, MY LOVE MY LIFE,
CLOSED HIS EYES AND WENT TO SLEEP
HE LEFT THIS EARTH, HIS PAIN ALL GONE,
TO BE WITH GOD YOU SEE
HE'LL FIND HIS SPACE, SEE FAMILY & FRIENDS
AND PREPARE A PLACE FOR ME

another little thought at the time -

THE PAIN FELT BY HIS LEAVING IS WAY
OVERBALANCED BY THE FACT HE WAS HERE
HE LEFT MUCH MORE THAN COULD EVER BE TAKEN
HE LEFT HIS LOVE AND TOOK OUR FEAR

(Most of my poetry is family and friend oriented -
I know the meaning but others might not enjoy it so much)

A New Star

I see a brighter star tonight
As I look at the sky;
It glistens in a teardrop
As it drifts upon a sigh.

A little light all filled with soul,
A speck so like the rest;
But to me it's brighter than the moon,
Above all, it's the best.

A part of earth for just awhile.
The heavens are its home;
Here it was confined as life,
There it's free to roam.

A little gem to crown the sky,
A jewel for all to see;
Its sparkle is for all mankind,
Its memory, just for me.

Tranquility

Dreaming of sunsets
of far away lands
it seems as though...

I feel the ocean spray
the waves roll slowly in...
a gull glides by.
I whisper into the wind
A lifetime of memories
flow through my mind
and then...

I think of you
and smile.

In Life Jim gave all he could to those that needed.
In Death Jim has given relief to burn victims,
hope to heart and cancer patients
and sight to the unsighted.
In Death Jim has given Life.

Written by my daughter and her husband,
Cindy and Jim Dedert and dedicated to my husband,
Jim Hart, deceased 01/09/93

Today is my Birthday

Today is my birthday
Celebrate my life with you
And remember the good times
Not the bad and
Do not be sad;
Look up towards the sun
And catch every ray of light
Upon your cheek
For I am there with you.

Today is my birthday
Be happy for me
I lived long and full
I had the pleasure of love
and the joy of my children
Do not be sad
Look up towards the stars
And catch each twinkle
In your heart
For I am there with you.

Today is my birthday
My legacy is not wealth
Or mighty belongings
My legacy is you and your life
Spend it wisely and carefully
Guard it always
Do not be sad
Feel the wind on your face
and in your hair
and know that I loved you
For I am there with you in your laughter
And in your hearts.

Today is my birthday
Learn to live again, without me
And stand on your own
Take my strength with you
For you are not alone
Do not be sad
Feel the rain on your face
Feel all life's treasures and
know that you are alive!
At each step of the way
I will help you
For I am with you always
Until we meet again.

Today is my birthday...

Dedicated to my Dad whose 65th birthday is 1-17-98
Who died 3-12-97
